Here is another worthwhile and valuable CD of piano music from SOMM, and I for one hope that Alessandro Taverna goes on to complete the set of Medtner Sonatas, for his playing and the recorded sound are both of very fine quality, with Taverna delivering the best performance of the ‘Reminiscenza’ I have ever heard – such sensitive and compelling playing does more than justice to this fine composer. The recording was made in the Turner Sims Concert Hall Southampton University in November 2013, and the result is a disc which is more than impressive.
